On September 22nd, Zach Bryan surprise released his EP, Boys of Faith. The album is 16 minutes long and consists of 5 songs: Nine Ball, Sarah’s Place (ft. Noah Kahan), Boys of Faith (ft. Bon Iver), Deep Satin, and Pain, Sweet, Pain.
The EP has a much more upbeat tone to it than his most recent release, a selftitled album, Zach Bryan. The EP came very quickly after his most recent release, yet as student, Brody Garrett (10) states, “the time frame did not affect the quality of the music, the EP and the album were both good.” Many people also believe the EP was released to continue hype for the artist and promote his upcoming “Quittin’ Time” Tour. This is Bryan’s 4th extended play release and includes songs that did not quite make the final cut in previous albums. Many of his recent songs have blown up on social media, including recent release, “Boys of Faith” which gained much publicity from trends on platforms such as Tiktok and Instagram.
The EP includes songs depicting complex family relationships (Nine Ball), loving friendships and brotherhood (Boys of Faith), identity and self-acceptance (Deep Satin), the longing for a loved one (Sarah’s Place), and personal growth through adversity (Pain, Sweet, Pain). The artist does a great job in speaking to his audience through his music. He writes about things many people can relate to and does so through writing catchy songs.
According to many of our own students, as well as outside sources such as social media, the EP was very well received and understood. This release adds to a long list of Bryan’s successful musical discography and continues to bring fame to his name and his upcoming tour.
