VMAs 2022
The 38th VMA’s took place on August 28th, 2022, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The VMA’s (Video Music Awards) is an award show, like the Grammy’s or Emmy’s. However, the awards are produced by MTV, and are geared towards music videos.
The awards that were given out this year were Global Icon Award (won by Red Hot Chili Peppers), Video Vanguard Award (won by Nicki Minaj), Video Of The Year (won by Taylor Swift- All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version)), Artist Of The Year (won by Bad Bunny), Song Of The Year (won by Billie Eilish- Happier Than Ever), and Best New Artist (won by Dove Cameron).
Fans also had a chance to weigh in on the awards. Anyone with access to the internet could go online to MTV’s homepage and vote for the Social Categories Awards. The winners in Social Categories were Group of The Year (won by BTS), Song of the Summer (won by Jack Harlow- First Class), and Album of the Year (won by Harry Styles-Harry’s House).
Overall, the VMA’s were very successful. With awesome live performances from Anitta, Bad Bunny, Black Pink, Conan Gray, Dove Cameron, Eminem X Snoop Dogg, Flo Milli, J Balvin, JID, Jack Harlow, Kane Brown, Lauren Spencer Smith, Lizzo, Maneskin, Marshmello X Khalid, Nicki Minaj, Panic at The Disco, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Saucy Santana and Yung Gravy.
As 2022 comes to an end, artists are already releasing new music and preparing for next year’s Video Music Awards.
