In 2024 Hidden Valley High School recently introduced “Club Days” that happen once a month. Club days allow students to explore various clubs and activities, and socialize with their peers. Each month, students can choose from a wide variety of clubs, ranging from academic-focused clubs like the Science Club and DECA, to more recreational options like the Art Club and Pickleball Club. This variety guarantees that there is something for everyone, regardless of their interests and hobbies. The head of DECA Mr. Hunt says, “I think the idea of club days are great and benefit the students immensely. I do think they should be slightly longer in order to work on projects and the meetings they need to do.”
Clubs meeting during the school day and not just after school, has been a great opportunity for students to participate in school activities and engage with their peers without worrying about fitting it into their after school schedules. Hidden Valley High School Principal Mr. Whitlow says, “we really wanted to implement club days during the school day so all students would feel included and wouldn’t have to worry about rides and other commitments.”
Club Days have been met with enthusiasm from both students and faculty. Teachers and club advisors have seen a huge increase in the participation and engagement of the students, as well as a more positive school atmosphere. By devoting time specifically for clubs, Hidden Valley High School is not only promoting extracurricular involvement but also helping students develop valuable life skills such as leadership, teamwork, and time management. Overall, Club Days have become an amazing addition to Hidden Valley, improving the school community.
