A new club is coming to Hidden Valley High School this 2024-25 school year. The men’s volleyball club, created by Coach Ponn and Coach Hutchins, is the newest addition to Hidden Valley’s club list. The club has created a lot of excitement around the school and many students signed up for the club on Hidden Valley’s club day, a day in which all the new clubs were displayed in the main hallway.
The main idea behind the club is to add a club to Hidden Valley that gives male students the opportunity to play volleyball. Men’s volleyball is very similar to women’s with most rules being the same. The biggest difference being the height of the net, with women’s being 7’4 and men’s being 7’11.
Club dues are twenty dollars and are required on the first club day. Club dues are put towards club necessities and other costs to maintain the club. The start date of the club is scheduled for the next club day at HV. “I’m very excited for the club to start,” said Bentley Altice (12). The club has four presidents Matthew Settle, Ethan Neal, Bentley Altice, and Griffin Ross. The presidents are all Hidden Valley students that work with the club sponsors to help run the club and get students to join. No experience is needed to join the club.
“I’ve never played on a team before, but I’ve learned to play by playing with family and friends,” stated Bentley. If you are a male student at HV who wants to try out volleyball, the new men’s volleyball club might be perfect for you!
