Here in Virginia, there are so many spooky sights to see this Fall 2024, but sadly some students here are not aware of the top places they should visit to get in the Halloween spirit this year. These include the Terror Manor haunted house, the Sunflower Festival, and Layman Family Farms pumpkin patch. All these places have one thing in common: the best fall vibes achievable right at home! If you have not attended any or all of these events, you are missing out.
Who would not want to attend Roanoke, Virginia’s largest and most terrifying haunted house? That happens to be Terror Manor. Terror Manor is a Halloween haunted house open from September 20th through November 2nd. This haunted house includes forty uniquely and horrifyingly designed rooms with different actors portrayed as scary creatures. There is a maze and a haunted house section, and you will either have the time of your life or be petrified. Either way, it is perfect for that Halloween spirit!
The next sight caters less to Halloween and more to the season of fall and that is the Layman Family Farm’s annual pumpkin patch. Their fall festival runs from September 21st to November 2nd. It is an 83-acre farm located in Blue Ridge, Virginia. There are unlimited things to do here like go through their popular 10-acre corn maze, pick your perfect pumpkin from their many options, meet all the furry little animals, and so much more! It was named the “Best Pumpkin Patch in Virginia” by Good Housekeeping in 2018, so you do not want to miss it!
The last one had to be included because it is simply iconic, but sadly it is closed for this year. To get hype for fall 2025, there is The Sunflower Festival. This one is a bit of a drive, but you will not regret it. The festival is known for its beautiful scenery of twenty acres full of black oil sunflowers that make for a gorgeous view. There are the most fun fall activities to do including wagon rides, over one hundred handmade crafts to make, a petting zoo full of farm animals, photo booths, and more. They also have the best food vendors and even live music! This festival is the most stunning and perfect place to celebrate the season.
The options of fall sights and activities here in Virginia are simply perfection! There are so many things to choose from to have the most perfect fall season every year. Norah Poff (10) said “My favorite fall event has to be Terror Mannor, it’s perfect for all the Halloween vibes,” and Addy Weaver (10) said “I think Virginia has some of the best fall places to visit, I look forward to them every year.” Personally, Terror Manor is my all-time favorite out of the options, but it was hard to choose. There is no place like fall in Virginia!
