Hidden Valley High School students will compete for a prize in a talent show on November 15, 2024. Talent shows are popular all around the world. Talent shows are a great way for people to have fun and entertain the audience with jaw-dropping performances.
This year’s talent show will be held to help the HVHS Marching Band. Ms. Newbern says, “This is the second annual Hidden Valley Mighty Titan Marching Band Talent Show.” The talent show is a fundraiser to help the Hidden Valley Marching Band. Ms. Newbern also says, “the band boosters are putting the talent show on.” Ms. Newbern became involved with the event as she is “a parent in the band booster organization that is on a fundraiser committee.”
Although this is the second annual Mighty Titan Marching Band Talent Show, the tradition started earlier, “We used to have a talent show back in the day that Titan Radio ran about 10 years ago, and we did it for a couple years then we stopped doing it.” Ms. Newbern also says, “We stopped the talent shows because we were doing them in the spring, and was during sports and other events, a lot of students of students participated in spring events so we switched it to a fall event.” After quite some time Ms. Newbern decided to bring these talent shows back. “I love showcasing the kids’ talents, you guys are so talented, and not even talents, awkward talents, like last year, we had a student play a recorder out of his nose, while eating a sandwich.”
There can be so much diversity in talent shows, they bring in lots of entertaining surprises and talents. Ms. Newbern recalled one of her favorite performances, she states, “My favorite talent was when years, years ago, I had all the senior football players playing a musical instrument and singing, ‘Somebody to love,’ and they were fabulous, absolutely fabulous.” She also remembers a performance with some of the best vocals she has witnessed, “We had one of our students singing ‘Fever,’ which was amazing, and it has to be the best act I’ve watched so far.”
Mrs. Newbern concludes on a positive note, “We have musicians, singers, and I just think they need a stage, we also have bands of some kids that people don’t even know of, and it would be great to give them more exposure.”
