On Saturday, October 12th, Hidden Valley’s Titans touched in with their Greek roots at the Ancient Greece Homecoming Dance. For the Class of 2025, this was their final Homecoming Dance after the past three years’ Under the Stars (2021), Moonlit Garden (2022), and Big City (2023). The dance began at 8:00 in the evening in Hidden Valley High School’s gym, featuring a decorated main hallway and seating outside the gym. As students made their way in, the energetic music and the colorful lights flowed out from the gym, giving a taste of the excitement to come. The dance also featured a DJ, who played curated music that kept the night lively throughout.
Of course, no Homecoming Dance is complete without the tradition of its Homecoming Court, which was announced the night before at the Homecoming football game. First, the prince and princess were crowned, being Paxton Lester (12) and Ella Forney (12), then the highly anticipated spot of king and queen were announced to be Jack Barbour (12) and Meredith Crawley (12).
As the two reflect on their win, Barbour recounts, “It felt pretty good, it was just really fun to feel special for the night.” Going on to mention his queen, he says, “It felt really good to win with Meredith, it was so much fun, and it was a really nice feeling special and being a part of something that was that special in high school.” Crawley shared about her experience, “I wasn’t really expecting it, but it was a really good feeling to be beside Jack since he’s my best friend.” When asked her favorite part, Crawley replied “Definitely dancing.” Barbour added, “Honestly, my favorite part was just being at the dance with my friends and having fun for a night and not worrying about school or stress or anything.” The pair both fondly recalled their favorite song from the night being “Get It S****” by S**** Red.
Reminiscing on past Homecomings as a senior, Barbour stated, “There were things I wish I did differently in previous Homecomings, but I really just reflect on, especially these previous two, just how much fun I had to be free for the night and just hang out with my friends and just not have a care in the world about anything, I just really enjoyed the opportunities I had.” Crawley concluded on a positive note, sharing her advice for high school as a senior, “Enjoy it while you can.”
