This past Friday, October 4th , the girls Senior and Junior powder puff teams faced off at the HVHS soccer field to determine bragging rights.
Hidden Valley Senior girls faced Hidden Valley Junior girls in a flag football matchup. It was a well-played and exciting game, coming down to the final minutes. The seniors ended up sealing a 30 t0 25 victory after Audrey Pearson (12) intercepted a pass in the final couple of minutes.
The game was enjoyed by many of the participants, fans, and sponsors, including Kate Funderburke(11) and Audrey Pearson(12). I really enjoyed playing it was a lot of fun, plus I had 3 touchdowns,” said Pearson. Kate Funderburke added, ” I didn’t play in the game, but I got to practice with the team and help set the event up, which was fun. I sadly couldn’t play since I had somewhere to be.”
The crowd really got behind the game, and the stands were full with parents, students, and faculty. Furthermore, Hidden Valley Varsity Football were on a bye week, making it an alternative version of Friday Night Lights.
“I enjoyed having something fun like this to do on a Varsity Football bye week,” said Audrey Pearson. “I heard that my team and friends did pretty good and saw it was a close game,” stated Kate Funderburke(11).
The Powder Puff game was an excellent fundraiser for the band. It was the first time in several years that the high school has held a Powder Puff game, and the plan is to restart the tradition on a yearly basis.
