Hidden Valley High School is offering a new elective, Fashion Marketing led by Mr. Hunt, for all students in the 2024-2025 school year. This elective offers students education on fashion throughout the decades, play around with color theory, and put on a few fashion shows of their own. This is a good way to dip your toe in the water of the world of fashion to determine whether you want to pursue this career in the future.
“We have learned about how to put outfits together… It’s been really fun just learning about years of fashion,” says Lauren Goodwin, junior student in fashion marketing. Lauren says she would like to take this class again if given the opportunity. Lauren states, “I chose this class because it seemed interesting and new.”
Mr. Hunt, the fashion marketing teacher, explains some of the year’s curriculum. He says they will look at all levels of fashion including textiles, fabric styles, and colors including how bright or dull those colors appear. Throughout the year they will look at and study 100 different fashion designers and investigate what they use and do. They will also look at current fashion trends and trends throughout the decades. “Right now, we are in the middle of a decade’s project where we all have picked a decade and show the fashions and the music, …” says Mr. Hunt. “We will present those, and we are looking at doing multiple fashion shows.”
This new elective is geared towards students who wish to pursue a career in fashion by giving them new ideas and opportunities for designs as well as study the marketing aspects of fashion. If you are interested in learning more about the world of fashion marketing, this might be just the elective for you.
