At the beginning of every year there is an exciting anticipation involving the football games- no it’s not who we are playing, it’s what the themes are going to be for the home and away games! When football games have themes, it adds a little extra layer of excitement and enjoyment for students. Whether it’s USA night, neon night, or extreme blue and gold night, themed games encourage school spirit and student involvement. Students love the chance to dress up at the end of a long week of school and spend a Friday night at the football games taking pictures and cheering on their football team.
Themed football games create lasting memories and make the whole event more fun and engaging. A couple of the seniors who have been enjoying the football games for the past 3 years have shared their opinion on these occasions. “It’s fun to get ready with your friends and dress up to the theme of the football games” states Ella Forney (12), who is one of the 2024-2025 student section leaders. When asked, Forney stated that her most memorable game that she attended was her freshman year when the theme was neon night. Forney (12) says, “The colors were so fun and the confetti cannons that were shot off each time we scored added the best energy to the student section” .
Not only do the students of Hidden Valley enjoy the football games, the football players on the field also enjoy the themes. When asked, Isaiah Cooper (12), the Hidden Valley Titans starting tight end, states that his favorite theme to see in the stands is toga night. “When I didn’t play football my freshman year it was cool to see the togas in the stands. It’s a cool theme to help highlight the seniors of the school” says Isaiah Cooper (12). Cooper feels that the themed games bring in more support because it helps entertain the people who may not be that interested in football.
Themed football games amplify the overall experience of Friday night football. They bring students together in a fun, energetic, and safe way. By making the events more memorable and inclusive, football themes turn regular games into a shared celebration that resonates beyond the field.
