Ms. Brown is the new bookkeeper at Hidden Valley High School for the 2024- 2025 school year. Although most students will just see her as the face of class dues payments, behind the scenes she has the important job of managing most of the school’s accounts.
Brown found a career in bookkeeping due to her interest in accounting and organization. She has always loved numbers and problem solving, making her perfect for the job. Although this is her first time working in a school setting, her background in corporate bookkeeping has given her a great foundation for this job, which she believes to be less chaotic than the corporate world. Her goal in the role is to “keep the school where it needs to be as far as finance wise.”
Ms. Coffey, the new dean of students, believes that the bookkeeper is one of the most important people at Hidden Valley because “anything that gets purchased through anything in the school has to go through her.” Brown’s role in the school is to manage and record the money in and out of every account, ranging from the math department to the golf team. Along with the behind the scenes, she is the person who students go to when paying for most school expenses, including dual enrollment fees and purchasing a parking pass.
Outside of her job at Hidden Valley, Ms. Brown especially loves coaching recreational baseball and football, which she got involved in because of her sons, and woodworking. In high school, she was involved with the band and dabbled in many sports.
Next time you visit Ms. Brown’s office, feel free to admire her surprisingly clean desk, consider how her organizational skills make sure it does not look like a “tornado hit it,” and wish her an awesome first year at HVHS!
