As the final bell rings and the hallways echo with the final moments of high school for our graduating class, we take a moment to spotlight some of the extraordinary journeys of our seniors.
Sophia Marie Hoch, one member of the class of 24’ gives us a glimpse into her fondest memories of her time here at HVHS. Senior prom! Twirling around in her beautiful dress with her best friends on the dance floor, “I’ve never felt prettier,” Marie fondly reminisced.
Marie took advantage of the opportunities we have at Hidden Valley. She was a member of archery club, diversity club, Titan Tutoring, and softball. The activities she was a part of, plus the staff she grew fond of, are what she will miss most when she’s gone. “They brought me out of my shell.”
In four years, Marie was able to experience some of the best things high school has to offer, but she also has some regrets. “I regret not putting myself out there more.” There were many times where Marie felt that she allowed her shyness to take over and prevent her from participating in things she wished she had.
After four great years here at Hidden Valley, Marie is moving forward with her education at George Mason University. Her chosen field of study: Psychology. Mrs. Newbern, our Psychology teacher here at HVHS, has made a great impact on Marie as both a student and person. Not only will Marie be studying Psychology, but also Criminal Justice and anatomy as well.
As Marie leaves her final marks at Hidden Valley, she wants to let all students know, “Your grades are not a reflection of your intelligence or who you are. Your work ethic and how you treat your peers are.”
Thank you Marie for all that you’ve done here at Hidden Valley, and we wish you well as you journey on to the next chapter!
