As the 2023-24 school year comes to an end, we need to take time to honor our seniors. Ruby Kasmer, a senior at Hidden Valley High, is by far one of the highest achieving students in the school.
In her years at Hidden Valley, Ruby has participated in many school activities, including HVHS Women’s Varsity Soccer, where she is currently captain and leading her team to the post season. Along with her achievements in sports, she was also part of many clubs throughout her high school years. Her highest achievements being DECA and Student Advisory Counsel. Ruby stated, “My favorite part of Hidden Valley is the opportunity to be a member of DECA and be able to do well in state competitions.”
Every kid has a teacher that they love and always go to when they need something, for Ruby it was Mrs. Weaver. Ruby really enjoyed her teaching style as well as her exciting attitude towards teaching. “I appreciate how much she cared about her students and knowing I can always go to her if I needed anything”.
Many students in high school always take things too seriously, and that is Ruby’s biggest regret. “It’s important to keep good grades, but it’s also important to build the balance between academic and nonacademic areas in your life as well.”
Ruby has gained a lot of knowledge throughout her years at Hidden Valley, and a piece of advice she would give to other students is “Have fun, try new things, and build your ideal high school. Don’t take your time for granted and enjoy it while it lasts.”
Ruby Kasmer has a bright future ahead of her; she will be attending Brigham Young University in the Fall. Here, she hopes to continue her academic achievements and her excellent leadership skills.
