When you think of the future president, who comes to mind? The student body at Hidden Valley has declared Brennan Metz as most likely to become President, and many can see why. Brennan has been an involved member in the school community and surely has left a mark at Hidden Valley High School.
Brennan is a member of SAC, SCA, yearbook team, and the Titan Theatre Troupe. He is also a multi-sport athlete. Brennan competes with the school’s DECA organization and has learnt a lot from it. “A fond memory I have is helping my friend Aanandi Parashar win a state position as the Region 5 VP for DECA,” Brennan comments. “It was a very difficult campaign to run, but it was extremely fun to do.”
Brennan has gained a plethora of knowledge throughout his high school career and has some advice to leave for his underclassmen. “I would tell them to do everything they possibly can for every organization they are a part of, and every person they are with,” says Brennan. “It pays off big time in the long run, and it is good for your overall wellbeing as a person.”
During his high school career, Brennan has made many new bonds and relationships. Brennan names a specific bond he had with history teacher, Mrs. Sprenger. “My favorite teacher at Hidden Valley had to be Deborah Sprenger,” comments Brennan. “She is a wonderful person who made history so fun. I acted with her in a short film one time, she is just as bright outside of the building as she is within it.”
Since it is everyone’s first time living, life is bound to come with regrets and mistakes. When asked about his biggest regret, Brennan comments, “My biggest regret by far is not joining DECA freshman year. It is easily the most important organization one can be a part of in high school, and it is easily the most useful. If you can go to ICDC every year in your high school career, you are going to do great things [:] guaranteed. I would have run for DECA state leadership as well.”
Through Brennan’s years at Hidden Valley, he has learned many lessons. “An important lesson I’ve taken away is that you can really do anything you want to,” Brennan explains, “There is always a chance to do something no matter what, and often times there are fake boundaries we find ourselves behind that stop us from trying. Once you realize that they aren’t real, you can do anything you want. There is not a single thing in life that is predestined, everything you have is what you decide to work towards.”
Brennan is ecstatic to attend William and Mary in the fall! “I am running for the student government and plan to be a part of the theater programs as well,” says Brennan. The school community is looking forward to seeing all that Brennan will achieve, and we will all be cheering for him from Hidden Valley.
