Parker Jones is a part of Hidden Valley 2024 graduating class. Outside of school, Parker does missionary work for his local church and spends time at the gym. After high school, Parker is planning to do two years of human resources management at Virginia Western and spend the rest of his undergraduate at Liberty University.
Parker has found high school to be a series of mundane moments with a few highlights centered around hanging out with his friends during lunch. However, Mrs. Preston has been a shining light during his time here. He has been able to confide with her about difficult situations more than any other teacher he has ever had. The teachers at Hidden Valley High School will be missed dearly by Parker.
As any other senior of this year graduating year, Parker’s freshman year was spent online because of COVID. The hindering of social connection made it difficult for Parker to transfer his friendships from middle school to his sophomore year. Yet, turbulence relating to school has not change his view of the importance of education. To underclassmen Parker’s advice is to pay attention in class and not fall asleep. Furthermore, procrastination is an addiction.
‘You can’t help people who do not want to be helped’ is an important lesson Parker learned. This revelation is often learned later in life, “Seeing other people attempting to be a solution to others, yet people are not answers to an equation.”
After the four long years of high school, Parker is happy to graduate.
