Hidden Valley High School is preparing for the return of its talent show. The last talent show at Hidden Valley was five years ago, and it was sponsored by Mrs. Newbern. This year it is hosted by the Mighty Titan Marching Band with, once again, the help of Mrs. Newbern. The talent show will be held on October 26th at 7pm in the school’s auditorium, and tickets will be on sale during lunches from October 23rd to the day of the show, October 26th. If you buy tickets in advance, they will cost $5; however, the price rises to $7 at the door. All proceeds will be given to the Band Boosters.
Sign-ups and auditions began a few weeks ago, and participants are practicing for the big stage, hoping to share their talents with the community and win a cash prize. Mrs. Newbern shared that she decided to hold a talent show because ,“We haven’t had one in five years, and everyone seemed to enjoy it.” She says that her goals are for people to be entertained and to raise money for the marching band. She also hyped some of the acts, an instrumental quartet, violinist, and even someone playing an instrument through their nose.
Seb Croteau (11), is featuring in the instrumental quartet with his friends, performing an original piece they cowrote. He shared, “Newbern presented the idea to me a while back, and I thought it sounded interesting;” furthermore, “There’s supposed to be some money that is given to the winner, so that’s what I’m in it for.
Another participant Sydney Newbern is also performing in the group, deciding to join after hearing about it. She shared that her hopes for the talent show, “Those who perform can get confidence and show others what they love.”
