After an already accomplished career, Mrs. Stevens is ready to start a new chapter of her life as a CTE teacher and coach at Hidden Valley High School for the 2023- 2024 school year.
Stevens has a background in marketing, previously leading teams for large clients such as Coca Cola and Advanced Auto Parts. Some of the aspects of her past career as a marketing agent included creating displays seen in grocery stores and leading product launches. She left her old job to pursue teaching after her field shifted its functions to work-from-home during the Covid-19 Pandemic. One of the big draws to teaching here was “to share all of that knowledge.” Stevens’ mom was also a teacher, which further interested her in following her footsteps as an educator.
Mrs. Stevens already had a background working with children from coaching Girls on the Run at Green Valley Elementary for many years. She noted that she “loves being around kids,” enjoys hearing “their stories, and [getting] to know their personalities.” She is most excited to teach a Robotics course because, “it is just so different” from all her other classes. Lucy Furcron (11th), a CAD student of Stevens, said the “the activities are very hands on, for example, the class got to move the furniture around after designing a new floorplan for the room.”
Stevens’ three kids go to HVHS which impacted her decision to come here. Her daughter, Ashley (10th), was very excited for her to teach, while her twin sons (9th) were not quite as thrilled. Ashley said that she “like[s] that she can just come in [Mrs. Stevens classroom.]”
HVHS is very excited to spend this year with Mrs. Stevens, and hopefully many more!
