Miss Buck is a new theater teacher here at Hidden Valley High School and is excited to start the 2023-2024 school year in a new building.
Miss Buck is originally from Columbus, GA and went to a college in Greenville, SC and Staunton, VA. For her undergrad she went to Furman University (Greenville, SC) where she studied theater arts. Then, she went on to pursue her masters at Mary Baldwin University (Staunton, VA), achieving a Master of Fine Arts and Master of Letters in Shakespeare & Performance with a concentration in Acting and Education.
“I have loved theatre and the performing arts from a very young age,” stated Miss Buck.
Dedicating your life to something you love is a concept that is often lost in modern careers. However, Miss Buck has made it her fate to pursue a career in her love of theater.
”I have loved theatre and the performing arts from a very young age, because I loved seeing people become other characters and being immersed in another world or another person’s story, and I love sharing stories with audiences now.”
As of right now, Miss Buck has not picked out a show for this year; but do not worry, she has many great shows in mind. In the future she hopes she can add a technical theatre class or a breakdown class of some sort.
“I would love for the HVHS theatre program to develop into something that allows for students to learn and practice various types of theatre skills daily.”
Including more people in theater is a goal that would be wonderful to accomplish. The theatre department here at Hidden Valley High School will start to have a new shine with Miss Buck offering a fresh approach.
