Mr. Wilson, Hidden Valley class of 2008, is back as a teacher.
Tyler Wilson joined the HVHS Staff this year in the English department, teaching grade 9 College Bound and Grade 10 Co-Taught, as well as Advanced English 8 at Glenvar Middle School in the mornings.
He is a local to the area, attending Cave Spring Elementary, Hidden Valley Middle School, and graduated from our very own Hidden Valley High School in 2008. “Mr. Whitlow was an Assistant Principal, and Ms. Waggoner was my Spanish teacher.” After high school, he studied at Hampden-Sydney College and obtained a B.A. in English and Minor in Public Service.
Before teaching, he worked maintenance. “I wanted a job where I could use my education and didn’t have to work in my free time, this is funny if you understand my new job.” He then worked as an assistant at Northside Middle 2018-2019 while completing a career switcher program for his teaching license. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, his first year of teaching was virtual. “Weird Times.” This is his first year teaching in the county after 3 years of teaching English at Lucy Addison Middle School in Roanoke City.
