Mrs. Fisher is a new history teacher at Hidden Valley High School, and she is excited to start the 2023-2024 school year.
“When I was interviewed, I fell in love with the administration, with Mr. Whitlow, the history department supervisor, and everyone who works here.” – Mrs. Fisher (History)
Fisher grew up in Chesapeake, Virginia. As a kid, she hated history and never had any interest in it. Growing up, she was always studying science. At first during her college years, she wanted to major in Biology and Chemistry. Fisher eventually realized that she was no longer interested in science like she used to be, it got boring for her after doing it for so long. She majored in History at Old Dominion University and Forensic Science at George Washington University. As Fisher looks back on her life and the people who inspired her, she realizes that she had more interest in history than she thought.
“I had never worked so hard for a B in my life. That’s when I realized, History was my thing.” – Fisher (History)
Mrs. Fisher did not originally intend on becoming a history teacher. After getting her degree in history she became an intelligence analyst for 20 years. She became a teacher when she realized that new generations weren’t properly learning American History. This is Mrs. Fishers 3rd year as a teacher.
“After 20 years of being an intelligence analyst and realizing that new generations weren’t learning history as well, I decided to switch to being a teacher.” -Mrs. Fisher (History)
Mrs. Fisher wants all her students to care about history as much as she does. She wants them to come to the same realization she did, that history may be boring now, but it’s important to know it as well as our past so that it won’t repeat itself later in our lives. Mrs. Fisher has some advice for students at Hidden Valley High School.
“Don’t rush for the future, enjoy it while you can and be yourself, always be yourself.” -Mrs. Fisher (History)
