Senior Spotlight, Anya Swierkowski

Every year, the seniors look forward to sharing their positive high school experiences and memories with everyone, so Anya Swierkowski, a senior ready to attend Longwood University, is here to share her experience.

Anya has made several memories in high school, her favorite being performing in the marching band. The high school marching band is a fun, challenging, and rewarding way to spend high school. Anya stated that her favorite memory is participating in the marching band performances because “It’s really fun and it feels good to show everybody our hard work.”

Aside from marching band she also participated in several clubs including starting her own. Anya founded the Crochet club the beginning of her senior year, supporting local animal shelters with blankets from the group’s hard work. She’s also an active part of FCA, FCCLA, and Science Club.

Anya also shared the person that helped guide her through school and pushed her the most as none other than her calculus teacher Miller Jones. She explained that Mrs. Jones “saw more in me than I saw in myself.” Not only did her teacher push her to become who she is now, but Mrs. Jones also was the sponsor for Anya’s crochet club.

Anya is eager to attend Longwood University, planning to major in mathematics, and looking forward to her exciting new life ahead of her. She wishes the rest of her class well, and is ready to make new memories and experiences in the years to come.
