The basketball season for Hidden Valley has wrapped up, and we are moving on to our dominant spring sports. But, we can’t exit our winter sports without recognizing the improved and record-breaking Titan basketball teams. As both teams reached the regional playoff play, the Titans have done amazingly this year!
The Girls basketball team did well this season ending off with a 12-12 record and making it to the Region 3 quarterfinals in Staunton River. Coach Webster said, “We have reached all of the goals that I set this season and more!” Making regionals is one of the goals the Titans set this year, and they did it! A lot of great moments have been shared with Coach Webster and the players, but one of the favorite moments that Coach Webster shared was “giving our seniors the best exit to their high school careers with a very good season.” Avery Tanis reached All District 1st team, and Audrey Pearson reached the 2nd district team.
Boys’ basketball had a pretty similar season to the girls. They made it to the regional playoffs and eventually to the semi-finals in Pulaski against Northside! “The season was very good for us,” said Coach Hutchins. Even with the unfortunate defeat against Northside in the semifinals, we can still see improvement for the Titans this year. Steele Torrence had an amazing season by surpassing the all-time assist record, all region 2nd team, and all district 1st team. Wynn Womeldorf and Riley Phillips reached all district 2nd team. “I am very proud of the team this year; they showed hard work and dedication,” said Coach Hutchins.
These two basketball teams have been amazing this season. We are excited to see them in action next winter. Congratulations to all the players and their achievements; it has been an exciting winter season.
