As twelve teams prepare to make their runs, the 2024-25 college football playoffs are here. The twelve teams in these playoffs are Ohio State, Tennessee, Texas, Clemson, Notre Dame, Indiana, Penn State, SMU, Oregon, Arizona State, Georgia, and Boise State. Each of these teams is prepared to work hard to reach their end goal: the National Championship.
There has been a lot of controversy surrounding the NCAA playoffs this year. This season is the first time they have done a twelve-team playoff. In the past, it was just the top four that would make it into the playoffs. The selection of teams this season has caused many fans to be upset by some of the teams in the playoffs. Many were very upset that Clemson made the playoffs, and that Alabama did not. This is just one example of the many opinions on these playoffs for this season.
Will Blandford (12) states that he likes the twelve-team playoff because it creates opportunities for more teams, as well as the chance for upsets. Blandford says, “I was rooting for Tennessee since my brother attends college there.” Since it was a twelve-team bracket, Tennessee got a chance to play for the title. With the playoffs ongoing, there are now two teams left, Notre Dame and Ohio State. “I think Ohio State is going to win the national championship,” Blandford said. “They have had the hardest path to the championship, and even with that, they have obliterated every team they’ve played.”
Overall, there are many mixed opinions on this twelve-team playoff and the NCAA may reevaluate how they select the teams next season. However, two teams have worked extremely hard to make it to the National Championship, and on Monday, January 20th, 2025, one team will be crowned.
