The annual Titan Toughman tournament was held at Hidden Valley High School on December 6th, 2024, and it is a wrestling competition between schools across Virginia and West Virginia.
Many schools were in attendance this year and the tournament went from Friday December 6th to Saturday December 7th. Every year the competition is harder than the last but just as thrilling every year. The tournament has a lot of suspense, and it is difficult to predict who is going to win the tournament at the end. “It was a very intense competition but it’s always fun to see what schools we get to compete against and who will be the last one standing.” Garry Norris (11)
This event happens in groups that are sectioned by weight. It is very organized and helps to set them up for success. Hidden Valley typically has good luck every year, with a good number of their wrestlers placing. “I like to prepare my wrestlers by giving them a pep talk and making sure they are in the right headspace before their matches.” Coach Horn said.
This tournament requires a lot of skill and strength. It takes a lot of courage to face over 20 schools, with over 200-300 people competing. It might seem difficult, but with the right attitude and determination they can do anything “The competition always seems tough, but you have to go into it with the right attitude to win your match.” Brody Garrett (11)
