The basketball season at Hidden Valley High School is almost here, and everyone is excited about the players, coaches, and fans. Under the guidance of Coach Hutchins, the team is ready to work hard, improve, and play as a team. In a recent interview, Coach Hutchins (Hidden Valley’s Varsity Coach) shared his thoughts on the upcoming season. When asked about his coaching style, Coach Hutchins said, “Work hard, play hard. The standard is the standard. We want to hold our players to a high level for every game, and we hope to grow and connect as a team.” He is focused on teaching discipline and teamwork to help the players succeed.
Coach Hutchins also discussed how he prepares the team. They watch a lot of films to ensure they are prepared for each team they play. Hutchins states, “Conditioning is very important for success. Instead of just running, I combine running with drills that build skills.” He believes this conditioning is more enjoyable and beneficial for the boys. The approach helps the players stay in shape while improving their basketball techniques and strategies.
Coach Hutchins is looking forward to seeing his team grow. “I’m excited about our team coming together, connecting, and playing as a group. Hopefully, we’ll have a great season this year,” he states. One of the goals for the season is to build strong relationships and improve teamwork within the group. One of the teams captains this year, Riley Phillips (12) shares how he plans to help the younger kids in the program strive for success. “This season, being a captain I want to win as many games as possible and show hard work to help the younger players understand the standard of our program,” he states.
The titans have already set the standard for fans to expect the Hidden Valley basketball. The first couple of games have already happened, resulting in a huge win over Faith Christian 72- 33. The team is known to play with hard work, smart preparation, and determination. With Coach Hutchins leading the way, the team is ready to take on challenges and aim for a successful season.
