Hidden Valley High School’s Boys’ Cross Country team could be shaving their heads if they get first in the state. Yep, that’s right! Two weeks ago, the cross-country team entered their last regional competition for the year, and last week, they began their state tournament. As one of the best teams in the state of Virginia, they stand tall as one of the most competent and hard-working teams. Now, they’ll be trying to push even further in the sport, and the goal is to reach first. Speaking of first place, there have been some rumors going around that the team will shave their heads bald if they happen to get there. Though, the question remains, is this true?
After Regionals, according to Spencer Thacker, “There likely would’ve been some kind of celebration had we gotten first.” So, answering the question in a moment’s notice, although in a rather vague tone, it seems there really wasn’t much a plan regarding any kind of celebration. So, it seems the rumors were truly rumors after all.
One thing clear thing about the team is that there is no shortage of hard-working individuals. “We’re very disciplined. We go to practice once a day, and sometimes twice a day,” stated Tyler Swank (12).
The team seems to be well positioned to place first, as they truly do try their best every single day at practice. “We work very hard every day, and it seems to be paying off,” added Spencer Thacker.
The state championship was held on November 16 at Blacksburg High School. Hidden Valley placed fourth.
