On October 1st, the reigning state champions, the Hidden Valley Lady Titans, took on the Cave Spring Knights volleyball team for an intense rivalry game at Cave Spring High School. The ladies worked diligently as a team, in the end, securing the win.
Despite the knights’ efforts they were not able to take down our Lady Titans. Adding another victory to the Titans’ record; they now have a 16-0 standing. The Knights now have a record of 6-10.
“Both schools fought hard throughout the match, resulting in a 3-0 sweep for Hidden Valley,” stated Camlyn Morstad (11). The box scores were 25-19(Set 1), 25-18(Set 2) and 25-15(Set 3). With a decently close score to start the match, the Titans were able to progressively improve and shut down the knights.
“The game went decently well. We started off the game a little slow, which is something we’ve been trying to work on. We were able to pick it up progressively and ultimately secure the 3-0 sweep,” added Morstad.
Senior Caleigh Ponn broke Hidden Valley’s all time kills record reaching over 2,000 for her career. This is one of several records that the senior standout has broken this year. Next year, she will take her talent to Kansas State University.
One of the keys to the successful season is teamwork. “We all worked hard as a team; everyone was putting in effort. Each set got pretty close, so we had to push a little harder to get the win,” elaborated Abby Bishop (11).
Get out and support the Titans volleyball team, because they only have a few regular season games left before they enter Regional playoffs.
