Finally, after several years, the Powder Puff game is being brought back to Hidden Valley High School. This year the Junior and Senior classes of Hidden Valley will be competing on September 23 (game has been rescheduled to September 27 or September 30) in a powder puff game to raise money for the Mighty Titan Marching Band. The powder puff is a 7 on 7 women’s flag football game, pitting the Juniors against the Seniors. Admission to the game is $5 before the game and $8 at the gate.
The Seniors have a very strong team filled with athletes from many sports. When asked why she thought the seniors would win, senior team player Chloe Muscaro (12) said, “We have a very athletic team and our first practice we were already scrimmaging and running routes. We’re also just better.”
The Seniors are brimming with confidence. “We are going to win, because it is the first powder puff game in a while and the Seniors are supposed to win. We have a ton of motivation,” predicted Holly Griffin (12).
During practice, the Seniors are forming a strategy and working on communication. “Our strategy is to listen to the coaches, but also working on some plays the juniors won’t know,” bragged Muscaro. “We have good communication and we have hand motions that let us know what plays we’re running,” expanded Griffin.
The Seniors are confident in their ability and take pride in the fact that many of their team are involved in athletics at Hidden Valley High School. In fact, both Muscaro and Griffin, along with several of their teammates, have experience in playing in State Championship games.
“The biggest difference between us and the Juniors is we are more athletic and most of our team plays sports,” claimed Muscaro. Griffin believes that the diversity of athletes that the Seniors have will also be a huge advantage. “The biggest difference is the variety of athletes we have. We have some volleyball players, basketball players, and soccer players, giving us a good range of positions people can play.
This year’s Powder Puff is going to be a fun, intense game. Come out and support the Junior and Senior teams while contributing to a good cause.
