Titan Tough Man is a wrestling tournament that takes place at Hidden Valley every year, featuring 26 different schools from SW Virginia. It usually happens around the second weekend in December, right before Winter Break. The tournament lasts two days, and it is a great early season test for wrestlers from participating schools.
Brennan Metz (12) stated, “I would say that the biggest challenge is overcoming the number of teams there that are on such a high level, but our team is also on a great level.”
This competition happens in groups by weight class. It seems to be very organized and sets the stage for success. Hidden Valley typically seems to have good luck at this tournament, every year coming out with some of our wrestlers on top. Even though they tend to do well, they manage to stay humble throughout the year.
Gary Norris (10) said, “Try not to be under so much pressure, it’s hard to do in a match, but you have to focus.”
Titan Tough Man is a tournament that requires much skill and effort. It takes a lot of strength and ultimately takes a lot of courage to be able to face 26 different schools, with over 200-300 people. It may seem tough, but with the right attitude you can do anything.
“I feel confident in Hidden Valley going into this tournament, as long as we put 100% into everything, I think we have a very good chance.” Stated Luca Coniglione (12).
