Flint Michigan rapper Rio Da young OG released from prison. On December 8th Damario Donshay was released after serving an almost four-year sentence. He was arrested January 7th, 2021, and plead guilty to possession of a firearm.
While incarcerated Rio continued to make music, He would rap over the phone and his producers would help put the song together for him from the outside. Rio had quite the following before being arrested. The following continued to grow over his time being in prison. His fans started to go viral with a quote “Free Rio” which has blown up and it seems that all his fans knew this saying and were using it constantly on social media platforms.
Rio has made many albums with hundreds of songs one of his most popular songs is Legendary. “My favorite song of his is legendary,” said Japhon English 12. Fans love his music and have been waiting for him to be released in hopes of him releasing a first day out song. The fans got exactly what they wanted, Rio dropped “Rio Free” his first song after being released. The song has 4,426,267 streams on Spotify within the first month of it being out. His fans loved the new song. “I listened to the song as soon as it came out, I thought it was fire,” said Marcus Johnson 10. Rio has been out of prison for around month now and has just dropped a new album titled “RIO FREE,” in honor of his release.
