1000-Lb Sisters’ Amy Slaton of Dixon, Kentucky may not “know how it is” to be her sister Tammy’s size, but she recently got to know how it is to be behind bars. The TLC star was arrested Monday, September 2nd following an incident at a zoo in Crockett County, Tennessee. Amy Slaton, 36, visited the Tennessee Safari Park with her sons, Gage and Glenn, and friend, Brian Scott Lovvorn. The trip took a sour turn when Slaton was bitten by a camel. An employee of the zoo called 911 and Amy was taken out on a stretcher by medics as first responders started to arrive.
According to the Crocket County Sheriff’s Department’s Facebook page, when police arrived at the scene to investigate the incident, the deputies were “immediately overtaken by suspicious odors coming from the guest’s vehicle.” Upon investigation, Slaton and Lovvorn were found to have magic mushrooms and marijuana. The post also revealed that Amy was arrested and is facing charges of illegal possession of schedule I, illegal possession of schedule IV, and two counts of child endangerment. Slaton appeared in court on the 5th and pleaded not guilty to her charges but was ultimately jailed, allegedly in Crockett County Jail. Lovvorn was also charged for possession of the drugs and jailed; the two both have bonds set at $10,000. The pair were released when Slaton’s brother, Chris Combs, posted their bail for over $20,000 while Amy’s sister, Tammy, watched over the sons. Since their release, Slaton and Lovvorn have been spotted holding hands, suggesting a romantic attachment. Slaton has also reportedly listed her home for sale in an effort to repay her debts from the incident.
This debacle has shocked fans of 1000-Lb Sisters who were already eagerly awaiting the upcoming debut of the 6th season this coming October, providing new drama from the sisters before any episodes even aired. One fan of the show, Jack Barbour (12), told us “I think it’s very interesting to see a public figure like her, prominent in pop culture, get arrested. It’s something no one saw coming from her, but it’s also her life and I can’t imagine something like this getting aired to everyone if it was my business.” With a sad face, Lilla Wagner (12), another fan of the sisters, said “It’s sad to see a beloved TV star get mixed up with crime and drugs.”
