The war between Palestine and Israel has been going on for 3 months now. Since then about 24,000 Palestinians have been killed and about 59,000 have been injured; in Israel 1,200 people have died.
After 48 days of the war, both sides agreed on having a temporary truce that began on Friday, November 24, 2023. During the seven days of truce, at least 50 captives were expected to be freed, leaving an estimated 190 captives in Gaza. In exchange, 150 Palestinian prisoners were expected to be released.
Since the beginning of the war, the United States has sent $14.5 billion in military aid for Israel. The U.S is also sending two U.S. Iron Dome systems to Israel to help further bolster air defense capabilities and protect citizens from rocket attacks.
Meanwhile countries like Turkey, the UAE, Emirates, Qatar, Jordan, and Tunisia have sent at least eight planes to the El Arish airport in Egypt. India has sent medical and disaster relief to El Arish on Sunday and Rwanda has sent 16 tons of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
“I think the war will escalate more and more and eventually lead to greater power,” said Henry Spence (9).
Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, rejects any deal with Hamas for the release of captives that would end the war, despite calls from Israeli politicians. For now no one knows how the war will and when the war will end, but until the both sides make an agreement, it likely won’t be any time soon.
