On October 7, 2023, Hamas made a surprise attack on Israel. About 3,000 rockets were shot towards Israel. More than 1,400 Israelis have died from the day of the attack till now.
In response, Israel has fired missiles on Gaza. In Gaza 2,400 Palestinians were killed and 9,715 were wounded. While in the west bank, 55 are dead and 1,100 wounded since the beginning of the conflict.
Israel trapped people in Gaza and cut off the water supply. Furthermore, access to food, internet, electricity, and healthcare is very limited in Gaza.
The US has helped Israel with air defense, precision guided munitions, artillery, and medical supplies. Meanwhile, other countries in the Middle east are helping Palestine at this moment and the US has pledged humanitarian relief.
Henery Spence (9) stated that, “From what’s going on between the two countries I think that there is no good guy”.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that they are at war after Hamas fighters carried out harrowing attacks on Israeli civilians. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas told the U.N. General Assembly on Thursday that there can be no peace in the Middle East without his people enjoying their “full and legitimate national rights.”
Palestine and Israel are still at war and no one knows how it will end. Whether they work stuff out together, international diplomacy intervenes, or the war continues to escalate, this part of the world continues to be unstable.
