Sidelined: The QB and Me, a movie that is available to stream on TubiTV beginning Friday, November 29th, 2024, is a teen romance based on a Wattpad YA novel called The QB Bad Boy and Me by Tay Marley. The runtime for this movie is 1 hour and 39 minutes and was given a rating of 5.9/10 by IMDb. This story takes place in Victoria, British Columbia, at Archwood High School and stars Siena Agudong as Dallas Bryan and Noah Beck as Drayton Lehey. Sidelined was directed by photographer, writer, and producer, Justin Wu.
Sidelined is a story that follows Dallas Bryan (Siena Agudong) as she navigates through her senior year of high school. Bryan is a cheerleader who is trying to get into CalArts, a prestigious dance school that is ultra-competitive and nearly impossible to get into. She is determined that no one will stop her from achieving her dream, not even Dreyton Lehey.
Dreyton Lehey (Noah Beck) plays Bryan’s love interest in the film and is the star quarterback at Archwood High School. Lehey’s father puts a lot of pressure on him to go to a school called Waco, where he and previous generations have all attended, but after meeting Dallas, Dreyton realizes he can choose his own future not the future his father dreams for him.
Dallas finds herself walking home late one night after a party, and Dreyton happens to spot her on his way home. He offers to give her a ride home on his motorcycle, she accepts, and crashes at his place for the night. After that, Dallas and Dreyton grow closer to one another and begin a relationship, much to his father’s disapproval. This disapproval ultimately pulls the two apart and the relationship ends so that they can each focus on their dreams.
Unfortunately, after the breakup, things begin to fall apart. Dallas is not focused on her dancing, which leads to her not being prepared for her audition to CalArts, and she pushes her friends away. On the other hand Dreyton is so focused on his relationship with his father, that he is not performing well on the football field. Things change the day of Dallas’ audition when her nerves cause her to look at her phone and she sees a picture of her and Dreyton, which gives her renewed hope. She ends up crushing her audition and is ultimately accepted into CalArts. After the audition, she asks Dreyton to talk. They meet at the park and talk everything out and get back together. Dreyton helps Dallas move into CalArts. A few weeks later, Dreyton surprises Dallas by visiting and wearing a USC sweatshirt and he shares the news that he was accepted as the starting quarterback on a full-ride scholarship.
The movie ends with Dallas and Dreyton hugging and Dallas asks if everything was worth it, Dreyton says, “Absolutely!”
In conclusion, this movie was longer than expected, but it wasn’t a bad movie. If I had to rate this movie, I would give it a 3/5, Sidelined: The QB and Me was a little cliché for my taste, but it did have a good plot and a good ending. It was entertaining. If you’re someone who loves a good teen romance that has its ups and downs, then this might be the movie for you!
