Liam Payne, former bandmember of the worldwide sensation One Direction, unexpectedly died at 31 years old at CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Argentina last week. His death has shocked the world and has led to many different tributes in honor of him. His solo and One Direction’s music are making a comeback and has been spiking on the Billboard Top 100 for the last week. His death has allowed the world to take a trip down memory lane remembering him and his legacy.

Liam Payne died by falling from his third-floor balcony at a hotel he was staying at in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He had drugs including cocaine found in his system according to a preliminary toxicology report. “When I heard that Liam died from substance abuse it made me feel really sad and realize how much drugs impacted his life,” said Ginger Barbour (10).  The hotel room that Liam was staying in was trashed as well. The T.V was shattered, and pills were scattered throughout the room. It is not clear whether he fell, or he intentionally jumped, but it has been proven that drugs were in his system altering his normal behavior.

There have been tributes from his friends all over social media. The most memorable tributes were the ones of his former One Direction bandmates Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, and Zayn Malik. Styles wrote, “His greatest joy was making other people happy, and it was an honor to be alongside him as he did it.” Each of them shared old pictures with Liam during their One Direction days that have fans reminiscing of the past. Tomlinson wrote a lengthy and heartbreaking tribute that talked directly to Liam saying, “If you’re listening, I feel beyond lucky to have had you in my life, but I’m really struggling with the idea of saying goodbye.” Horan and Malik posted tributes as well; all are posted on their Instagram accounts. “Liam will be missed by the world. He really shaped a lot of our childhoods through One Direction,” stated Norah Poff (10). Liam Payne is missed by the world and has left a legacy behind that will go on forever.
