The movie It Ends with Us, directed by Justin Baldoni, was released in theatres on August 9^th, 2024. The movie just recently became available for streaming on September 24^th, 2024. It Ends with Us follows the main character Lilly Bloom, played by Blake Lively, through her life after she moves the Boston. The movie also contains flashbacks to her life while she was in high school. Lilly ends up caught in what appears to be a love triangle, and the movie follows her internal struggles through her relationships.

It End with Us has three main characters: Lilly Bloom, Ryle, and Atlas. Ryle is played by Justin Baldoni who is also the director of the movie. He is Lilly’s lover when she first moves to Boston. He has a strong personality and it very quick tempered. Lilly Bloom is the main character. She is optimistic and compassionate, which leads to her being a loving and forgiving person. Atlas is the last main character, played by Brandon Sklenar. He is introduced a little later into the movie. Atlas, similar to Lilly, is very loving and compassionate. Atlas is also a very passionate person which can sometimes get him into trouble. There are also many supporting characters in this movie. Allysa is Lilly’s best friend that she meets while opening her flower shop. Allysa is played by Jenny Slate. She has a very bubbly personality, and she is also Ryle’s sister.  Lilly and Atlas are also shown throughout the movie in their younger years. The movie flashes back to them in high school, where Lilly is played by Isabela Farrer, and Atlas is played by Alex Neustaedter.

This movie has many ups and downs. The movie begins looking like a romance movie as Ryle and Lilly meet one night on the rooftop of Ryle’s apartment shortly after Lilly had moved to Boston, Massachusetts. She begins to ignore him as she wasn’t looking for a relationship with him. Lilly then opens a flower shop where she meets her best friend, Allysa, who also happens to be Ryle’s sister. This has been Lilly’s dream for her entire life, and she works tirelessly to make it happen. Lilly and Ryle end up reconnecting, and they fall in love early in the movie. However, as the story goes on, the issues within their relationship begin to show. They end up trapped in a toxic and abusive relationship. While Lilly is struggling through this relationship, Atlas appears in her life again. Buried feelings that she has for him slowly begin to arise. This causes more of an internal struggle for Lilly as she is stuck in this love triangle. The movie continues to follow along Lilly’s life with her struggles and successes, and the work of her flower shop.

There are many mixed opinions on It Ends with Us, as a lot of critics believe that it does not represent the book as well as it could.  It Ends with Us earned a 57% on Rotten Tomatoes, and a 6.5/10 on IMDb. Overall, this movie is very emotional, and it takes many turns. If you’re looking for a very sensitive and emotional movie, this movie is perfect for you. I would rate it 4/5 shields!
