Sabrina Carpenter has wrapped up summer 2024 by dropping her anticipated album, Short n’ Sweet. This album was released on August 23rd, 2024. Fans have been waiting for this album for years and she definitely outdid herself. Short n’ Sweet is an overall pop album, which is Sabrina’s usual genre, but she did try a lot of new things with this album. She dipped into alternative and country sounds for some of the tracks too, which the fans have loved so far. The main themes Carpenter explores in the album are love, heartbreak, and overall just the ins and outs of romance in your young adult years. Some songs are love songs explaining finding new love, some are about heartbreak and wearing rose colored lenses in relationships, and another common theme she wrote about was being “the other woman” to an ex-boyfriend’s old relationship. There are so many themes, sounds, and diversity put into these songs and her effort is shown by the reactions of her fans.
Carpenter kicked off her Short n’ Sweet era with her first single “Espresso” that heavily blew up and got everyone super excited for what was coming up. Her second and last single for the album was “Please Please Please” and was released in June. Both gave fans a good look into what the album would be like. This album has been teased since early 2024 and she finally announced the album and her upcoming tour early this summer. Sabrina Carpenter has made her mark on 2024 music with her singles and her new album.
Short n’ Sweet is a 12-track album full of the most original and moving music. The tracks include “Taste,” “Please Please Please,” “Good Graces,” “Sharpest Tool,” “Coincidence,” “Bed Chem,” “Espresso,” “Dumb & Poetic,” “Slim Pickins,” “Juno,” “Lie to Girls,” and “Don’t Smile.” She also released three different music videos for this album including “Espresso,” “Please Please Please,” and “Taste.” Sabrina Carpenter’s new album has been a tremendous success. It debuted at number 1 on the US Billboard 200 becoming Sabrina’s first number one and top ten album and best opening week ever.
I believe this album is her best work. There is so many diverse songs and sounds but she keeps who she is maintained while doing so. My favorite song by far is “Bed Chem.” I do not even have a least favorite, all of them are perfection. I rate this album a 5/5 shields.
