Ariana Grande is back with a new studio album, Eternal Sunshine. Her seventh studio album was released on March 8th, 2024. She has taken a long break from releasing music as this was her first album since Positions in 2020. Grande released her first and only single to this album in January called “Yes, And?” The album name is inspired by the movie “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.” She wrote and produced the whole album herself with help from Max Martin, Ilya Salmanzadeh, and Oscar Görres.
Eternal Sunshine is a pop album with hints of R&B and dance pop. The album revolves around various themes of love, breakups, heartbreak, moving on, acceptance, excitement, possessiveness, independence, longing, forgiveness, and more. The track list includes “intro (end of the world),” “bye,” “don’t wanna break up again,” “Saturn Return Interlude,” “eternal sunshine,” “supernatural,” “true story,” “the boy is mine,” “Yes, And?,” “we can’t be friends (wait for your love),” “i wish i hated you,” “imperfect for you,” “and ordinary things (ft. Nonna).”
This album is one of my all-time favorites for Ariana Grande. I have been a huge fan of Ariana for a long time and have been waiting for her next album. Her music break was worth the wait. I have heard complimentary reviews on the album, and I think lyrically, it is her best. My top favorites are “the boy is mine,” “eternal sunshine,” and “we can’t be friends (wait for your love).” I would give this album 5/5 shields. It may even be Ariana Grande’s best album!
