On February 4th, the 66th Annual Grammy Awards were hosted at the Crypto.com arena. Many artists won awards such as Best Rap Album, Best New Artist, Producer of the Year, and more. However, unlike the other winners, one artist stood out amongst them all. This artist was Taylor Swift, who upon winning Album of the Year, announced an entirely new album entitled The Tortured Poets Department.
Upon her announcement, speculation and rumors began to fly surrounding the project. Who could make a feature? What is the music going to sound like? Which of her previous albums will it be most like?
Some students believe that this album will be completely unlike her other albums, while other students believe it will be similar to previous ones. One student, Carlie Plunkett (11), thinks that this new project “is going to be a little bit similar but it will also be unique in its own way, I think it will be kind of like Folklore and Evermore.”
Regardless of its similarities and differences, fans across the globe are excited for this new release, even going as far as buying every version of the album’s vinyl records. Upon the release of the cover and song titles, as well as the features on the album, fans went crazy speculating what the songs will sound like and the meaning behind each of them. Some believe this album will be alluding to her breakup with Joe Alwyn, others believe it will be more of a self-growth kind of thing, and a few even speculate that it will be a love letter to her new boyfriend, Travis Kelce.
Either way, as we draw closer and closer to the release date, Swifties all over the world are extremely excited to listen to her newest masterpiece.
