On February 2nd, 2024, a new and inventive film called “Argylle” was released in theaters. “Argylle” is a fresh never-before-seen movie with popular actors and actresses. The motion picture was directed by Matthew Vaughn and was filmed in multiple different areas such as Greenford, Royal Park, and the U.S.
“Argylle” has been widely recognized upon its release. Many sources say that “Argylle” was expected to make between 15 and 20 billion dollars in its opening weekend. However, it is said that the cinematic film did not hit the mark but landed somewhere around 18 million dollars instead. Some critics are considering this a “flop” movie, but let’s take a deeper dive before making assumptions.
The stars of “Argylle” are Henry Cavil, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, Dua Lipa, John Cena and many other notable celebrities. Many observers noticed this movie seemed to catch the eye of a younger crowd by showing a few new actors. In reality, the leading roles were played by older and less known performers. Is this considered catfishing in a way? In my opinion it is not, but others believe this misleading information is dishonest and should be put to a stop.
At first the plot of this movie had me a bit confused, but after giving my attention to the screen I started to connect the dots. “Argylle” is a comedy/action movie with plenty of fast paced twists and turns to keep you entertained.
Elly Conway (Bryce Dallas Howard), an introverted spy novelist, begins to gain some writers block while writing the end of her 5th and final hit book titled Argylle. While on a train to visit her mother for some help, she meets a man named Aiden who she immediately can tell is “different.” After talking with Aiden, her life begins to change from quiet and slow to dangerous and intriguing. She finds out she is intertwined in a spy war much bigger than she could have ever imagined. As Elly overcomes fears and tests the limits with Aiden, she uncovers truths of her own that scare her much more than any spy war.
In my opinion, this movie was good. I was very into the movie from start to finish, but it did begin to get a little cheesy from time to time. Aside from a few scenes that made me chuckle with a bit of second hand-embarrassment, I really enjoyed this flick. Overall, I would give this 4 out of 5 shields.
