On December 8th, Tate McRae released her highly anticipated second album: Think Later. Tate McRae is a newer pop/indie singer with a very promising future in music. Although she may not be very popular at the moment, I believe everyone should give her music a try. This record was produced by Ryan Tedder and sung by Tate McRae. Some people would say McRae is a one hit wonder, but I would disagree.
Think Later consists of fourteen inventive songs. The theme of this album errs more on the revenge side. This release is all about feminine emotion, whether that be in the form of anger, or sadness. Throughout this record McRae explores the ups and downs of relationships, family, and the world as a whole.
McRae released her singles “Greedy” and “Exes” in the fall of 2023 and they both immediately became popular. It was later found out that these songs would be included in her upcoming album. The first track on her album is named “Cut My Hair.” This song is a great way to start off this record. It is an upbeat ballad about the ups and downs of life. McRae sings about wanting to cut her hair and losing herself. On the surface this may seem like a trivial song about cutting your hair, but when you look deeper you will see it has a much larger meaning. After thoroughly depicting these lyrics, I can see that it is more about showing people who you really are and being tired of playing the sad girl persona. All throughout the album there are hidden meanings such as these. The majority of these songs connect with audiences of all ages.
This Canadian singer’s new album has the perfect mix of angsty and melancholy lyrics all wrapped in one. If you are looking for a new catchy song to tune into then this album is for you! Tate McRae’s new album is bound to be one for the books. I have been a fan of McRae for a few years now and this album did not disappoint!
