The Graham Effect is the first book of Elle Kennedy’s new series. The Graham Effect is the second-generation book for Kennedy’s original Off-Campus series that she wrote in 2015 and The Briar U series written in 2018. The Graham Effect is the second-generation book for the first book in the Off-Campus series called The Deal.
The main characters in the book are Gigi Graham and Luke Ryder. Gigi is the daughter of Hannah and Garrett Graham who are the main characters in The Deal. Gigi is a hockey player at Briar University like her dad was before her. Luke Ryder is a transfer student at Briar after his college shut down over the summer and he and his teammates have found it difficult adjusting to the hockey team at Briar. Gigi and Ryder haven’t always been on the best terms. Ryder’s idol just so happens to be Gigi’s dad Garrett Graham, the greatest hockey player of all time. Once Ryder makes a bad first impression on his idol, he is desperate to make things right and Gigi might just be the person he needs to make things right. Gigi’s dream is to be part of the woman’s USA hokey team, but she needs to work on her weakness behind the net before they consider putting her on the roster and Ryder might be the right person to help her. Ryder and Gigi make a deal to help each other out, Gigi helps Ryder get a better impression with her dad so he can be a coach at one of his hockey camps and Ryder will help Gigi with her game behind the net.
While things go good at first, they can’t ignore their feelings for one another. They both try to ignore it at first until they can’t. Ryder doesn’t want anything serious, and Gigi is a relationship type of girl. After Gigi’s ex-boyfriend and Ryder’s new co-captain for the Briar hockey team cheats on her the year before she isn’t looking for anything serious but is she willing to change that to be with Ryder and is Ryder willing to change his rules on having no serious relationships for Gigi?
