Ariana Grande released her album “Yours Truly (Tenth Anniversary Edition)” on August 30th to celebrate the debut album that launched her career. Republishing this album shows the growth Ariana Grande has experienced through her career, starting from a Nickelodeon star and reaching an A-List musical artist. After 10 years, she has furthered her music career and is now able to have millions of fans celebrate the anniversary of “Yours Truly”.
While the album is newly released, it features repeats of the songs on her previous album, along with live versions of some songs. The six live songs featured on the album are re-recordings of some of her most iconic songs, including “Honeymoon Avenue”, Daydreamin’”, “Baby I”, Tattooed Heart”, “Right There”, and “The Way”. One of the most listened to songs on the new album is, “The Way ft. Mac Miller (live from London)”. This song features Ariana Grande’s live voice and a prerecording of late artist Mac Miller, which was reminiscent for many fans to hear.
Before listening to this album, I was hoping that she would re-record all the songs so her fans could hear a more vocally matured version of her songs. After listening to the album, I thought that having the original songs along with a few re-recorded live versions was perfect. The live songs surprise listeners by displaying a more mature version of her voice, and when transitioning from a re-released song to a re-recorded song, you can hear her growth. I think this decision improved the quality of the album, and I will be listening to “Yours Truly (Tenth Anniversary Edition)” from now on.
