“The Crown” Review
The Crown is a historical drama based off the British royal family. The Crown has a total of five seasons. The first four seasons covered Queen Elizabeth II’s reign from the 1950’s to the late 1980’s. The fifth season of The Crown, which follows the life and reign of Queen Elizabeth II, was released by Netflix on November 9th, 2022. It was the first season of the series to be released following the death of both Queen Elizabeth II (September 8, 2022) and her late husband Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh (April 9, 2021).
The new season covers Queen Elizabeth II’s reign throughout the 1990’s. The main conflict in this season is the separation and eventual divorce between Charles, the Prince of Wales, and Diana, Princess of Wales. A historical event showed in the new season is Princess Diana’s famous interview with the BBC. Her interview covered her separation with Prince Charles and how the British royal family treated her while she was married to Charles.
The show covers many historical accuracies. One being Diana’s interview and Prince William starting his school years at Eton College and even the big fire at Windsor Castle. Prince William has been shown in season five more than ever before. It shows Prince William’s relationships with most of the royal family. The main two people he spends the most time with on the show are Princess Diana and Queen Elizabeth. While there may be many conflicts in the season, it is still an entertaining show to watch with your family.
